John Emrick

John Emrick is the lead partner in MirRam’s New York State lobbying practice. He joined MirRam Group in 2016, after serving for seven years as both a senior advisor and Chief of Staff in the New York State Senate. During his tenure in State government, he had unique input on every major legislative and budgetary decision facing New York State. During his seven legislative sessions and State budgets, John was at the center of negotiations with the Governor and NYS Assembly. City & State has recognized John as one of Albany’s Most Influential on its Power 100 lists. Since joining MirRam, John’s advice and counsel had been sought by industry leaders across the spectrum in Healthcare, Real Estate, Insurance, Technology, Telecommunications, Finance and Energy.     

In addition to MirRam, John joined the Hamilton Campaign Network (HCN) at its creation in 2016, serving as the first President of the company. At HCN he oversaw the political operations where the company served as lead consultant in a dozen races during the 2016 election cycle, including Adriano Espaillat’s successful campaign for Congress as well as numerous State Senate, and State Assembly campaigns – winning each race.  He continued HCN’s history-making success in 2017 & 2018 by leading the firm which elected the first African-American woman as NYS Attorney General, Leticia James, and the first Latino District Attorney in Brooklyn, Eric Gonzalez. 

Prior to joining the State Senate, John served as Finance Director and advisor for a number of candidates including Fernando Ferrer’s citywide campaign for Mayor in 2005, Bronx Borough Presidents Adolfo Carrion and Ruben Diaz Jr.’s successful campaigns, and Rev. Al Sharpton’s 2004 campaign for President.  He has also advised numerous candidates for NYC Council, NYS Assembly & Senate. 

John received his B.A in Political Science from Fordham University in the Bronx, and is a native of Lancaster, PA.
