Luis A. Miranda Jr.

FOUNDING PARTNER

Civic organizations, educational empowerment, and cultural awareness have been the hallmarks of Luis Miranda’s public service. Luis founded the Hispanic Federation in 1990, one of America's leading Latino non-profit organizations supporting Latino health and human services needs. In addition to founding Amber Charter School, a charter school that accepted unionized faculty, he is active in many civic organizations, including the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, the Public Theater, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, and New York City Tourism + Conventions. His passion for public service is evident when Puerto Rico is in need. Together with the Hispanic Federation, he established the UNIDOS Fund, raising over $43M for relief and rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Maria. In his relentless drive to help his island, he never gave up. Luis Miranda and his son, Lin-Manuel Miranda, announced a partnership between Hispanic Federation, Starbucks, Nespresso, and the Rockefeller Foundation to rebuild Puerto Rico's coffee industry. The Flamboyan Arts Fund was created in collaboration with Hamilton and the Flamboyan Foundation, to raise $15M for arts and culture in Puerto Rico. Luis has also advised multiple NYC mayoral administrations and chaired the Latino Victory Fund, a national organization dedicated to empowering and mobilizing Hispanic voters.
